Voter Responsibility

Many people have stepped up and started to pay attention to what is going on around them.  These people are reading, asking questions, writing their politicians and more.  To them I have to say good work; you are taking your responsibility as a voter to heart.  There are still people out there whom feel unconcerned, because they feel nothing is going to affect them.  This mindset will not pay off well in the long run.  Bills that are in the process now, such as Cap and Trade and Healthcare, do not go into effect immediately, but they will hit your pocket book in the near future.  This means you will not see it until it’s to late.

Many of those people are also busy with work, trying to have a family life, and with some relaxation mixed in.  All this is part of the American dream. However, “We the People” have done so much of this without keeping our government in check, that currently we have a group of politicians who are not representative of us, but rather their own interest.

We Americans have been so distracted and undereducated on our own history for so many years, we have forgotten what Americans are.  An American is a rugged, self-motivated, can do, God loving, individual.  We have come so far from the founding fathers many do not recognize what the Constitution represents.  Think for a minute or two about this, for over 150 years the United States prospered without social security, Medicare, government health care, federal government school system, welfare, etc..  Yet, just imagine if  all these programs were gone.  This is the view of a Constitunalist and the  founding fathers, not to mention the proven fact that worked in the past. That is the distance we have traveled from the founding of this nation. This is also the root of where we are today and in recent days we have stepped up several gears into a very high speed.  We are taking money (right of prosperity) away from some to give to others via government (tyrant). Also note the end result is we are taking money from some areas of the country to give to other areas.  Does this sound familiar to those whom study the civil war history?

The federal government has very limited powers, which are there for one and all to read in the Constitution, Article 1 section 8.  Many current federal laws are well beyond the powers granted to Congress.  Remember the founding fathers wanted a weak Federal Government, with a stronger State Government and finally, as we get to Local Government even stronger potential, because the people have direct say in their Local Government.  States were called states because they were basically individual nations and the United States was a way to account for a common defense and commerce laws.  This allowed for each state to form its own laws to fit their needs and to entice people to them.  This concept allows for health care, in that if the people of Tifton believe health care is something they wish to do, they could vote it in for their town.  If they then determined it did not work for them, they could then turn around and change it.

To those who are sitting on the side lines, saying to themselves it does not matter to me, please spend a little time reading some of the bills, news and research articles, synopsis of current events, and history.  This time you spend will pay off many fold.  If you then do see that your life and family will be affected, take some actions, because if you do not now, you will have to answer to your children and grandchildren later.  If you still think things will not affect you or any of your family and still do not care, be happy because you know more now than before and return to your sleep.  Oh yeah, remember in the government of the future, complaining will not be tolerated.
